The Right to Build Task Force recently visited Marklake Court in London, an innovative customised approach to estate regeneration that provides 27 new homes for existing estate residents. The homes have all enabled residents to leave their existing homes, which are no longer fit for purpose. This solution has enabled residents to downsize, or move into more suitable homes, such as disabled friendly, freeing up homes elsewhere on the estate to alleviate over-crowding. Being community-led, the residents were fully involved in the decision making process, creating a new scheme very much in tune with its residents’ wishes and needs. Read the whole story here.
