Finding local enablers/builders

    Has anyone had any experience of finding local SMEs to deliver custom builds? If so I would appreciate any lessons learned and any comments on whether to go for shell or just allow customisation of internal layouts and/or external appearance. I am trying to find ways to deliver on sites that are too small for the usual ‘enablers’.

    Liz- contact the FMB (Andrew Dixon) who can point you to local builders who want to do custom build. Both models you describe work and depend on how much choice you want to offer individuals and their requirements. You might want to have a conversation with Inhabit Homes (Gus Zogolovitch) who have experience in London of shell/internal customisation and are looking for opportunities outside London.
